School Context Statement

Banisil Elementary School is located at Baranagy Tambler, General Santos City. It is along the National Highway to Kiamba, Sarangani Province. Its distance from the heart of the city is 14- kilometers.

The school was opened in 1965 as a Banisil Primary School in honor to the school site donor, Hadji Abdulgafor Lintang Banisil with the land area of 3.2- hectares. That time, a two classroom building was constructed and an artesian well.

In 1980, it was recognized as a Banisil Elementary School. It had six classrooms with Home Economics building accommodating pupils from Grade I to VI with one teacher per grade. The pupils were composed of 90% Maguindanaon (Muslim) and 10% Bl'aan (Ethnic) with the primary source of their living was through fishing and little of farming.

In 1989, the residents from Barrio Lapok in Calumpang, were relocated beside the school and as known as Diamond Valley. As a result, the school's population soared high with 50% Christian children and 50% ethnic groups.

In the 90% up to the present, the school population increased beyond the targets. It is because there was the availability of employment in this barangay from different factories, companies, and fish port.

Adopt the school in all aspects such as:
  • monthly honorarium of two school guards, monthly payments of Electric Bills maximum of Php 3,000.00 only, equipments and facilities of school improvements, SK financial assistance in support programs and projects for improving quality education

GenTuna Canning Corporation

  • Adopts Feeding Program of the school by donating dented tuna, corned beef and milk once a year to all grade one to three pupils.
  • Supports school programs like Boyscouts Jamborette and Girlscouts Councilwide Encampment  
  • Supports the 36th NUTRITION MONTH (July 2010) with a theme " Sa pagkaing tama at sapat wastong timbang ni baby ang katapat!"

    RD Group of Companies

    • Support yearly Brigada Eskwela by donating wooden pallets for pupils tables and benches, empty drums for septic tanks, sign boards for pupils safety in going in and out of the school.
    • Support scouting activities by borrowing empty drums and wooden pallets for sleeping gadgets
    • Share financial assistance for pupils allowance and fare in and out of town competitions

    Cargill Phils Incorporated

    • Donations such as reading books and instructional materials in making the library more functional for children, 4 gallons of white latex paints for Heroes Park beautification, second hand facilities and fixtures like computers, typing table and chairs.
    • Financial Assistance in Printing school newsletter, fare and allowance of pupils who represented our division in out of town competitions, fare of 30 teachers for educational tour in Tacurong City in line of Mathematics and Science.
    • Conduct trainings and workshop such as emergency Preparedness, importance of Reading participated by the teachers, parents, pupils and DepEd family.
    • Initiated projects such as Brigada Eskwela year round y classrooms repair to those rooms infected by termites, fixing electrical wires, and joining the yearly Clean Up Drive Coastal Area.

    Adopts the following programs:
    1. Summer Reading Camp for incoming grade one pupils expecting 300 partipants will join this program it is because these pupils will undergo reading readiness skills, SRA test and automatically enrolled in grade 1. (April 13 to May 15, 2009).
    2. School Supplies Assistance like crayons, pencil, paper, and notebooks.
    3. Feeding will be served specifically arozcaldo which is budgeted Php10.00 per child. It was cooked by volunteered parents.
    4. Repairing and painting of 6 grade one classrooms which allocation is Php1,000.00 per classroom.

    Alliance Tuna International Incorporated

    • Donated such as: wooden pallets for bookshelves, tables and benches in making library functional, dented tuna for girlscouts council wide encampment, dented tuna fo Boyscouts Jambourette, dented tuna for nutrition month activities, dented tuna for sponsoring Division STEP Competition held in school.
    • Adopt Feeding Program of the school for 240 malnourished pupils from preschool to grade six. It started November 10 to March 2009. 
    • Initiated 20 boxes of assorted reading books and instructional materials led by Mrs. Tess Ladanga.
